This document aims to transform the reality of the company Panelas con Amor GLA, a family business located in Briceño, Boyacá, which currently operates artisanally and faces challenges growing in the market. The central problem is that the sugar mill's infrastructure does not comply with sanitary regulations due to a lack of adequate networks and physical organization, in addition to the brand lacking the necessary recognition to compete. To address this, the objective is to design a proposal that combines technical facility improvements through civil engineering with a new commercial image. The chosen methodology is mixed and follows a phased, step-by-step model, starting with a real diagnosis and leading to a design proposal. The results will verify dimensions through renovation plans to meet INVIMA standards and a new packaging design, concluding that integrating engineering with a solid marketing and advertising strategy can transform this rural business into a sustainable and competitive enterprise in the region.

The undergraduate thesis, "Public Parks with Purpose," aims to design an intervention model based on project management, following the guidelines of the Project Management Institute (PMI), for the transformation of neighborhood parks into inclusive, healthy, and sustainable environments. The research stems from a diagnosis of the deterioration of parks in Bogotá, evidenced by maintenance problems, inadequate infrastructure, limited accessibility, and a lack of coordination between territorial planning, health data, and efficient project management. In this context, the study seeks to determine how implementing a PMI-based project management model can optimize the planning and execution of purposeful public parks, designed to meet the diverse needs of various age groups in Bogotá. Methodologically, a hybrid approach is adopted, integrating predictive planning tools with agile methodologies. This allows the project to be structured according to international standards and adapted to the community's social and health needs through participatory processes. The proposal includes the design of parks in distinct zones, incorporating criteria for universal accessibility, physical activity, biomechanical-ergonomic analysis, and social well-being. The projected results indicate an increase in community participation, improvements in social interaction, and a reduction in health risks, especially among the elderly population.

Contreras-Bastos, Mileidy Milena; Sánchez-González, Cristian David; Lozano-Mosquera, Natalia; Linares-Romero, Laura
This article analyzes the production and marketing of organic cacao in the municipality of Santa Rosa del Sur, Bolívar Department (Colombia), with an emphasis on the producers' association APROCASUR, which brings together more than 400 farmers dedicated to replacing illicit crops with sustainable agroforestry systems. The central problem identified is the lack of structured management models that would allow small-scale producers to overcome the technical, organizational, and commercial gaps that limit their access to specialized markets and organic certifications. In this regard, the research poses the following question: How can the design and implementation of an organic cacao production and marketing model, based on project management tools, improve the productivity, certification, and profitability of small-scale producers in the municipality of Santa Rosa del Sur, Bolívar Department, by 2026? The research employs a mixed methodological approach —quantitative and qualitative— of descriptive and exploratory scope, using structured surveys with Likert scale and semi-structured interviews as data collection instruments, analyzed through triangulation and descriptive statistics.

Rodríguez-Pamplona, Lizeth Daniela; Villegas-Hernández, Luis Carlos; Linares-Romero, Laura Liliana
This thesis aims to develop a practical framework for implementing strategies that integrate sustainability criteria into the management of sustainable construction projects, with an emphasis on the development of green buildings and sustainable cities. The building sector is one of the main contributors to the consumption of natural resources, waste generation, and pollutant emissions, which has increased concern about the environmental impact of construction projects. However, the incorporation of environmental criteria into project management is still limited (Catalina, V., et al., 2025), as in many cases they are considered in isolation or belatedly, without being systematically integrated into the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure phases. The central problem of this research lies in the lack of practical guidelines that allow for the effective articulation of project management with the principles of sustainable construction. To address this problem, the design of a methodological framework is proposed, based on the application and combination of recognized project management methodologies, adapted to the specific requirements of green building. As a result, a framework of guidelines is established that facilitates the cross-cutting integration of sustainability criteria throughout the project lifecycle. It is concluded that the systematic integration of these criteria not only improves the environmental performance of buildings but also strengthens strategic decision-making and the competitiveness of the construction sector.

The Urban Sentinels project, led by the Fundamb Foundation, arose in response to the deterioration and neglect of public spaces in Bucaramanga, where low citizen participation and inconsistent environmental policies have generated a negative perception of parks and green areas, with only 49% satisfaction. The project aims to evaluate how applying project management methodologies enhances the effectiveness of community-based urban sustainability initiatives, integrating social and environmental theory and practice. The central problem is the disconnect between institutional strategies and everyday practices, which hinders the consolidation of lasting changes in behavior and the conservation of public spaces. A mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, is adopted, employing a case study with semi-structured interviews, focus groups, document analysis, surveys, and the measurement of indicators such as the volume of separated waste, the number of parks restored, and community participation. The scope is descriptive and correlational, with an exploratory component, allowing for the characterization of results, the analysis of relationships, and the guidance of future research. It is expected that the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects under project management principles will improve urban sustainability, and that training and community ownership will generate positive changes in environmental habits and strengthen social cohesion. In conclusion, the systematic management of community projects is an effective tool for addressing urban environmental and social problems, providing academic value and practical recommendations for replicating initiatives in other contexts in Colombia.

For a long time, cost overruns in infrastructure projects have been treated as an obvious, almost self-evident symptom: a budget deviation that must be corrected or, at best, justified. But hidden within this widespread yet superficial interpretation is a crucial omission. The focus is on measuring how much more is spent, but rarely is the question asked of what is actually gained in return. As if the additional money, simply by virtue of being invested, carries an implicit promise of value. Any research that aspires to say something relevant about reality faces a silent dilemma: remain in the comfort of theory or risk the imperfection of the data. This study, wisely, opts for the latter without abandoning the former, and in that decision lies one of its greatest strengths. The combination of theoretical review and analysis of real-world cases is not new, but here it acquires a particular nuance. It is not about using theory as decoration or data as mere illustration, but about making them engage in dialogue. Twenty infrastructure and building projects developed in Colombia between 2005 and 2023 thus become more than just a sample: they function as fragments of a broader story, where each initial budget and each final cost reveals decisions, contexts, and, on many occasions, discrepancies that are difficult to ignore. The results show that cost overruns are not exceptional, but quite frequent, reaching increases of nearly 87.88% in some cases and an average of approximately 32%. But beyond these figures, the most important finding is that spending more does not necessarily mean the project is worth more. In fact, situations were identified where cost overruns cease to add value and become inefficiencies, especially when they exceed certain levels. In this sense, the work proposes a way of understanding projects that goes beyond cost control, integrating cost analysis with value creation. It also suggests the use of agile approaches as a useful tool for making valuation a more flexible process, better suited to the changing realities of projects. Taken together, these results aim to contribute not only to a better understanding of the problem, but also to improved decision-making in infrastructure development.

This study aims to formulate and plan a digital transformation project for a public energy utility located in Non-Interconnected Zones (ZNI) of Colombia, within a context characterized by fragmented processes, non-integrated multichannel communication, and limited information traceability. These conditions negatively impact operational efficiency, revenue collection management, and organizational control capacity. A mixed-methods approach with a descriptive-exploratory scope was adopted, integrating document analysis, AS-IS process mapping, Likert scale surveys, and descriptive statistical analysis. The results show a lack of integration between systems, a predominance of manual records, and low performance levels in integration (2.25), operational efficiency (1.34), and risk management (1.94). Based on these findings, a digital transformation model was structured, grounded in agile project management methodologies and focused on process integration and information traceability. It is concluded that digital transformation in this context requires a systemic redesign that integrates processes, information, and control mechanisms, moving beyond approaches centered solely on technological implementation.

Legal management in Colombia faces a contradiction that any user, specialized or not, has been able to experience firsthand: the regulatory framework has advanced toward digitalization, yet actual operating conditions remain shaped by technological, cultural, and institutional gaps that prevent these new conditions from being fully realized. This article examines how comprehensive technological solutions can bridge that gap through three objectives: diagnosing the current state of legal management in Colombia, designing scalable tools for document management, judicial monitoring, and process automation, and formulating organizational guidelines that ensure the long-term sustainability of those tools. The methodology follows a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory-descriptive scope, grounded in a bibliographic and documentary review of academic and institutional sources. The findings reveal that Colombia has made significant regulatory progress — including Agreement 001 of 2024 issued by the National Archive and the Strategic Plan for Digital Transformation of the Judicial Branch 2021–2025 — but that effective implementation requires technical tools articulated with organizational change management strategies. The central conclusion is that the digital transformation of the legal sector is not solely a technological problem: it is an interdisciplinary process that demands regulatory coordination, institutional leadership, cultural appropriation, and verifiable performance metrics.

Giselle Marina Nieto Piandoy; Karen Andrea Urbina Rodriguez
This research study proposes a sustainability and green positioning strategy for the “Delicias Arcabuco” business, located in Arcabuco, Boyacá, which specializes in the artisanal production of dairy products and corn-based goods. It is identified that the central problem lies in the lack of a comprehensive managerial approach that integrates environmental sustainability with strategic management, as evidenced by the inefficient handling of whey and the non-standardized use of water and energy. The methodology employed was a mixed approach with a descriptive-propositional scope, utilizing tools such as PESTEL, MPC, SWOT, and the PDCA cycle for organizational diagnosis. The results reveal that Delicias Arcabuco operates in an intuitive and reactive manner, with an informal structure that limits operational and environmental efficiency. As a solution, the integration of strategic planning and total quality management models is proposed, supported by tools such as the Balanced Scorecard and the Ishikawa diagram. The proposal concludes that the implementation of these strategies, together with the adoption of low-cost technologies, allows for the optimization of resources, the mitigation of environmental impact, and the consolidation of a competitive advantage based on rural identity and sustainable responsibility.

Luis Fernando Díaz Gonzalez; Omar Esteban Archila Dueñas; Michael Enrique Marquez Aguirres; linna Johanna Tamayo Rojas
Government purchases drive a massive part of the local economy. The problem is that micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are systematically excluded from this market. Data in Colombia exposes a critical reality: six out of ten proposals from this sector fail due to simple operational errors, voiding any existing legal incentives. Given this scenario, the purpose of this research is to design a proposal grounded in project management to mitigate these technical barriers. The study focuses on MSMEs in the Casanare department, analyzing their activity on SECOP II during the 2024-2025 period. Methodologically, a mixed and descriptive approach was applied. The core of the work consisted of cross-referencing rejection statistics from the State's Open Data with the PMBOK performance domains. The analysis revealed a clear pattern. The bidding defeat of these businesses does not stem from a lack of opportunities on the platform. It happens because they build their offers empirically, without knowing how to schedule tasks, estimate costs, or foresee risks. Adopting a formal project management model completely transforms this dynamic. It stops being a blind bureaucratic procedure and becomes an organized work cycle, giving these organizations the competitiveness needed to truly vie for public resources.
