Productos agroindustriales con ventaja comparativa revelada en la relación comercial entre Colombia y los demás países de la Alianza del Pacífico

Abstract

Taking advantage of economic integration agreements is the best efficient way to meet the need of export diversification of the country. The Pacific Alliance (pa) is the trade agreement with the highest impact due to the commercial approach between Latin America and East Asia. To draw on advantages from the free trade agreement defined already by the countries of the pa, this work aims to identify agro industrial products with a high revealed comparative advantage from Colombia in the framework of this agreement; to achieve this, three indexes are calculated: the Revealed Comparative Advantage (rca), the Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (rsca) and a transformed index of the Revealed Competitiveness (rc), and an analysis in both the pa as such and in each country was carried out. It was found that there are nine products with these advantages, among which it is relevant to highlight: sugar, molasses, and honey; sugar confectionary; coffee and its substitutes; and, vegetables oils and fats. As a suggestion, the promotion of these products as well as the other five, should be prioritized in the export supply offered by Colombia to the countries of the pa
