Abstract
With the signing of the peace agreement in Colombia, the government’s efforts move from reform to
the implementation of multiple programs and projects that consolidate long-term opportunities for
the victims of the armed conflict. In this scenario, the
strengthening of the agricultural sector and diversification of the export portfolio are expanded in order to encourage territorial development.
Considering this situation, this study analyzes the
behavior in the production and foreign trade of
Colombian cocoa, allowing the reader to identify the
comparative advantage of this product through the
Index Revealed Comparative Advantage (rca Index)
proposed by Vollrath. Finally, the analysis identifies the comparative advantage, the prioritization
zones by departments for the restitution of illicit
crops according to the productive conditions and
the countries with the greatest potential for importing cocoa

Con la firma del acuerdo de paz en Colombia, los
esfuerzos gubernamentales se trasladaron de
las reformas a la puesta en marcha de múltiples
programas y proyectos que consoliden a largo
plazo oportunidades para las víctimas del conflicto armado. En este escenario, el fortalecimiento
del sector agropecuario y la diversificación de la
canasta exportadora surgen con el propósito de estimular el desarrollo territorial. Considerando esta
situación, el presente estudio analiza el comportamiento en la producción y el comercio exterior
del cacao colombiano, permitiendo identificar la
ventaja comparativa de este producto a través del
índice ventaja comparativa revelada (Relative Comparative Advantage [rca]) propuesto por Vollrath.
Con el análisis, se identifican la ventaja comparativa, las zonas de priorización por departamentos
para restitución de cultivos ilícitos de acuerdo con
las condiciones productivas y los países con mayor
potencial importador de cacao
