This research aims to systematize the experience of the school newspaper *Sumando Voces,* created by humanities students at Colegio INEM Francisco de Paula Santander, located in Kennedy (Techotiba), Bogotá. Through a qualitative approach, the school press process was reconstructed to analyze its impact as a studentled communityoriented medium, drawing lessons guided by meaningful learning. Data were collected through interviews with teachers, students, and community members, reflecting on 19 years of the newspaper’s history since its inception in2006, highlighting its role as an educommunicative tool to foster participation, creative expression, and address the needs of the educational community. Additionally, challenges and opportunities related to itsimplementation and sustainability were identified, alongside exploring ways to enhance secondary students' understanding of social communication and journalism within the humanities track. This reflection integrates traditional education and educommunication as complementary frameworks to recognize students’ knowledge and interests, positioning journalism as a lifelong learning experience. Keywords: School press, Educommunication, Meaningful learning, Student participation, Social communication, Community journalism
