    Compresión y expansión: análisis de su implementación en espacios culturales para condicionar los patrones de movimiento del usuario y la organización espacial

    This paper analyzes the compression and expansion configured in cultural spaces through formal operations, as these spatial transformations are capable of directly affect the user’s displacement patterns, the distribution of activities, and their length of stay within each zone, define and structure the experience of each user´s journey through the architectural space, and allow certain displacements to be shaped according to the intentions that exist regarding how the user moves and inhabits within the space. The study is developed through a comparative analysis of three cultural projects, both local and international, of different scales and contexts, insofar as these cases allow for the establishment of relationships between different ways of configuring and articulating space, enable the identification of design strategies that condition and guide user flow throughout the sequence of spaces, and establish operations based on compression and expansion that are applicable to different contexts of architectural intervention.

    Operaciones a la condición de campo como estrategia para adaptar el programa arquitectónico

    This research aims to reinterpret how field condition operations can constitute a strategy for adapting the architectural program. The study is framed within the field of architectural design and design strategies, addressing field condition operations as a tool capable of responding to different contexts through program adaptation. The research was developed through a mixed methodology, organized into three phases. In the first phase, the operations linked to field condition were classified based on the analysis of architectural design references, specifically case studies of mat-buildings designed under a modular logic. The second phase focused on evaluating the incidence of these operations on the adaptation of the architectural program, through the analysis of programmatic modules categorized into: general, special, and service spaces, evaluated by means of an adaptability matrix that also considered circulation as support and its growth potential in different directions. The case studies analyzed, the Centraal Beheer office building by Herman Hertzberger (1967–1968), the Venice Hospital by Le Corbusier (1964), and the Holiday Temple by Piet Blom (1965), allowed for the identification of constant variations in programmatic adaptability percentages. The third phase enabled the reformulation of design strategies oriented toward the application of field condition operations, recognizing circulation as the fundamental element for the configuration of the module and the adaptability of the architectural program.
