Oportunidad exportadora de residuos de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos (RAEE) a la Unión Europea

Abstract

The environmental problems generated from the current production models, have international organizations developing guidelines that force countries to transform their processes towards more environmentally friendly techniques, in order to mitigate the damage caused and ensure preservation of natural resources. It is at this point where the consumption of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) has generated an excessive increase in Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and appears as an excellent alternative, not only as a contributor to the reduction of waste and pollution reduction, but also as a business opportunity of quite important economic magnitudes. WEEE are materials and components that have the ability to be reused in the production of new goods, these wastes are mainly metals and some plastics that become raw materials for the development of technology and construction materials. On the same line, the theory of the green economy and the theory of sustainability highlight the importance of the care of resources and how economic benefits can be taken from the application of technologies that allow the reuse of raw materials for the production of new goods. The export opportunity of WEEE from Colombia to the European Union is a real possibility with great benefits, that is why, developing the factors of such opportunity and showing its benefits for Colombia, are the central basis of the present investigation.
