The main objective of the document is to point out the opportunities that Colombia has in importing medical technology by selecting the top five of possible supplier countries and identifying the legal procedures to reach this end; Through this research, a study is carried out of the leading countries in manufacturing medical technology in the world and their production companies, which have a large market share in order to import these equipment to Colombia and in turn obtain economic benefits taking advantage of the special free zones that the nation has. It is considered that Colombia has enough opportunities to introduce these inputs from any country since it has fewer trade barriers in this item in relation to others, these are the 19% VAT and administrative type with the previous additional documents has a free regime import, this conjecture is reached through the deepening and analysis of the data obtained using the descriptive qualitative research methodology through secondary sources Colombia has all the public information of the previous documents, import licenses and their cost further facilitating this process; Colombia has been showing its interest in entering the territory medical technology, positioning itself as the third largest importing country in Latin America of these products, which favors the population since it may have greater coverage of the need to supply hospitals and health centers in all regions of the national territory.
