The main objective of the document is to identify the type of trade (intra-industrial or inter-industrial) that Colombia had with respect to the member countries of the Pacific Alliance (Mexico, Chile and Peru) in the years 2010 to 2017. To carry out the research, a study was carried out on the Colombian cosmetic sector, with emphasis on the eye make-up subsector (using subheading 33.04.20: Eye make-up preparations) with the aim of finding out what the trends had been in recent years, the most prominent companies in the sub-sector studied were then identified in order to identify their export and import levels, in order to determine the trade balance, and finally to use the Grubel-Lloyd index and to determine the type of trade that existed between Colombia and the Pacific Alliance for the product and period of time studied. It was found that the type of trade that Colombia generated with the member countries of the Pacific Alliance thanks to the Grubel-Lloyd Index (GLI) in the years 2010 to 2017, was intra-industrial, with a GLI equal to 0.38. The event that brought trade closer to the inter-industry was the results obtained by the GLI between Colombia and Chile, in which the years 2010, 2013 and 2014 stand out, where there were no imports to our country, resulting in 0 in the GLI.
