The fruit sector has been a fundamental part of Colombia's economic development and has contributed greatly to the generation of profitability and employment, since the products are highly sought after in both domestic and foreign demand. For this reason, Colombia has relied on the economic opening and giving importance to free trade agreements with different countries where the fruit sector is included with great tariff benefits that allow taking Colombian fruits to different international markets. Given this opportunity for growth, the free trade agreement with the United States, which came into force in 2011, has allowed many farmers to export their fruits to this country, obtaining a significant tariff benefit. Therefore, there is evidence of growth in the fruit sector, with exotic fruits such as gulupa being relevant, and this allows analyzing the commercial opportunity that may arise in the U.S. market for Colombian gulupa. Highlighting the results of this research, it can be said that in the United States there is an opportunity for improvement since they do not import Colombian gulupa to a great extent but they generate a wide demand for this type of fruit due to healthy consumption or consumption habits that improve health, and other aspects such as preferences and others, for this reason it is important to identify various aspects that allow establishing a plan of action that can be carried out successfully in the U.S. market.
