Propuesta de programa de gestión en EPP para los trabajadores de cargue y descargue del sector comercial de granos de la empresa MERKA-UNIÓN, Corabastos, 2026.Proposal for an EPP management program for loading and unloading workers in the grain commercial sector of the company MERKA-UNIÓN, Corabastos, 2026.
Garay-Castro, Claudia Marina; Bueno-Castro, Diana Derly
The intervention proposal being taught develops a PPE management program for the loading and unloading workers in the grain commercial sector of the company MERKA-UNIÓN, located in the Bogotá Wholesale Market (Corabastos), during the year 2026. The main problem found was the incorrect and incomplete use of PPE by said personnel, despite the company providing them partially, which shows failures in the processes of monitoring, control, training, and self-care culture. The research adopted a quantitative approach with a descriptive scope. A diagnostic survey was conducted with the 20 loading and unloading workers using Google Forms, which was complemented by direct observation thru a checklist based on Resolution 0312 of 2019 and Decree 1072 of 2015. The results showed six main issues: incomplete supply of PPE, low voluntary use of lumbar belts (55% never use them), negative perception of PPE effectiveness in 50% of the workers, lack of knowledge about their correct use, absence of visual safety signage, and presence of active musculoskeletal symptoms, mainly lumbar pain in 95% of the staff. Taking into account the aforementioned findings, an intervention proposal was developed consisting of three components: a formal PPE management program based on the PDCA cycle, a training and awareness plan with a visual and participatory approach, and an educational video as a permanent awareness tool. This proposal aims to strengthen the safety culture and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
