    Oportunidad de negocio de la panela colombiana en el mercado de Estados Unidos

    The objective of this research is to analyze the opportunities that Colombian panela has in the United States market in light of the free trade agreement (FTA) signed by the two countries. To achieve this purpose, the work was based on the theoretical framework of economic integration and its execution was based on documentary research that allowed an analysis of the characterization of panela in Colombia and the examination of the opportunities that panela has in the U.S. market. The results of the research show that the Colombian sugarcane sector has great opportunities in foreign markets, specifically in the U.S. market, by taking advantage of the free trade agreement between them, which determines an export quota of 50,000 metric tons related to tariff item 1701. In addition, there is the trend of the current U.S. consumer, which seeks to improve their eating habits and buy healthy and more sustainable products since the beginning of the health crisis in the world and the large number of people in the country who are of Latino origin and therefore know this product.
