Item Efecto de las prácticas sostenibles en la competitividad de los puertos de la región Caribe de ColombiaCasallas-Monroy, Diany Yineth; Jiménez-Pinillos, Paula Natalia; Aguilar-Galeano, EstibalizThe Caribbean region handles a large percentage of the total movements and port operations in Colombia and its main ports are located in the cities of Cartagena, Santa Marta and Barranquilla, where, although sustainable initiatives have been carried out, the lag in infrastructure and technology with respect to international ports is evident, which is why it is sought to identify the effect of sustainable practices on the competitiveness of the Colombian Caribbean ports, determining which are the sustainable practices that make the main ports of the world competitive and describing the practices implemented by the ports of the Colombian Caribbean region to finally establish sustainability criteria that favor competitiveness in the ports of said region. To meet the objectives, Porter's theory of Environmental Competitiveness was taken as support, which highlights the need to seek a sustainable balance between the conservation of natural resources and productive development, this through documentary research collecting data from multiple sources of information focused on in the three ports of the Caribbean region and three international ports of great relevance and technological development that are actively working on sustainable strategies for the development of their activities, Shanghai, Catalonia and Rotterdam. This made it possible to determine that sustainability in ports is becoming a necessity to comply with international agreements, streamlining processes and generating improvement points to make them more competitive.
