Nowadays, the Academic Curriculum in schools requires students to develop Critical Thinking in order to lead them to think and express their points of view when context issues happen around them. Therefore, this research project is focused on investigating about the strategy Problem-based learning (PBL) giving an opportunity for eleventh graders at Agustiniano Ciudad Salitre School to reflect upon and analyze different problem situations they might face in real contexts to promote the use of their critical thinking. This project is being kept with a phenomenological qualitative study, in which a survey to eleventh graders and interviews to their teachers have been used for collecting data as a research technique in order to get to know the way Problem-Based Learning (PBL) stages and the phases of Critical Thinking are being used according to the theoretical models mentioned below. The data analysis generated two categories that were contrasted to the research question and the established objectives; all of this led to specific conclusions which allowed designing a proposal to foster Critical Thinking skills in the English area with eleventh graders by analyzing problem situations related to the use of this foreign language in real contexts.
