Un análisis comparativo con los BRICSEspitia-González, Yeidi Liseth; Sierra-Cuervo, Brayan Stiven; Angulo-Pico, Grace MargaritaThe objective is to analyze the determinants of macroeconomic success of the emerging economies that are members of the blocs to which Colombia belongs (CIVETS, AP, CAN), within the framework of a comparison with the BRICS. To do this, the macroeconomic variables that affect the success of the economies were identified, in order to characterize the trend of these in the most successful economies of the blocs, in parallel with Colombia, in the light of the BRICS. The methodology is of mixed scope, since theories of endogenous economic growth, economic integration, international relations and international trade approaches are analyzed. The variables include: population, GDP, GDP per capita, foreign direct investment (FDI), inflation, trade balance and country risk. The results show that countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru and South Africa have benefited from the blocs to which they belong, managing to stand out in some variables compared to previous years; hand in hand with policies and measures they have taken to avoid being affected by instabilities. On the other hand, inflation, exchange rate and population growth are factors that influence GDP per capita; solid institutions and growth models that facilitate productivity and commercial stability support these results.Item Efectos de la pandemia de COVID-19 sobre la demanda turística internacional en Colombia, años 2020-2021Suarez-Olivero, Cristian; Angulo-Pico, Grace MargaritaThe effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on international tourism demand in Colombia during 2020 is analyzed. This was achieved by: describing the trend in international tourism demand (before the pandemic); characterize the profile of international tourists arriving in the country; to finally show the trend of international tourist demand (worldwide and Colombia), during the pandemic. Theoretically, it was based on the postulates of aggregate demand and international tourist demand. At a methodological level, the quantitative approach and the descriptive scope were chosen, based on variables such as: international tourist demand, ending flows, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), types of tourism, tourist profile, and market indicators. tourist labor, both nationally and internationally. Among the main conclusions, it is highlighted that tourism as a category of export service on a world scale, occupies the third position behind chemical products and fuels and ahead of the automotive sector, being the main category in countries such as Mexico and Thailand. Before the pandemic (year 2017), there were 1.326 million international tourist arrivals to destinations around the world. Due to the pandemic, tourism demand has been reduced worldwide and at the Colombian level, having effects on all links of the sector, including the labor market.Item Efectos del TLC Colombia-Estados Unidos, sobre la balanza comercial colombiana. 2013-2020Buitrago-Navarro, Angie Paola; Calderón-Vega, Karen Lucía; Angulo-Pico, Grace MargaritaThe aim of this paper is to analyze the effects of the Colombia-United States FTA on the Colombian trade balance between 2013 and 2020; to describe the balance before signing; to characterize the institutional framework of the agreement; and to identify the goods and services affected (positively or negatively) by the agreement. The research is quantitative-descriptive, with variables such as: Gross Domestic Product (national GDP) and those related to the free trade agreement (trade balance, exports, imports, representative market rate, production chains of representative goods and profile of products imported from the United States). Among the results are: increased efficiency of national sectors and companies thanks to the importance of the treaty in the economic and political history of the country. However, there was a deficit in the balance after its implementation, due to the increase in imports from the United States and the low value added of domestic products exported to that country.
