2025-09-082025-09-08https://repositorio.uniagustiniana.edu.co/handle/123456789/2730The objective of this paper is to reflect on the concept of truth exposed in Spinoza’s Ethics. For this purpose, this paper is divided into four parts. First, two different positions are considered: A reading that defends a theory of truth by correspondence and a reading that defends a truth by coherence. Truth by correspondence implies a distinction between a mind in the world that enables conformity between idea and object. By introducing the concept of parallelism, problems emerge in maintaining the mind-world distinction proper to the theory of truth by correspondence. Second, the definition of “adequate idea” is studied and its characterization of intrinsic quality is emphasized, in order to relate it to the concept of truth. Third, the concept of falsehood is estimated to be in accordance with the questions arising from the parallelism and appropriateness of ideas. Fourth, the discussion of part one is revisited to ask whether a reconciliation between the two possible theories of truth is possible. El propósito de este artículo es reflexionar sobre la noción de verdad que se expone en la Ética de Spinoza. Con este propósito en mente, el artículo se divide en cuatro partes. Primero, se consideran dos posturas diferentes: una lectura que defiende una teoría de verdad por correspondencia y otra lectura que defiende una verdad por coherencia. La verdad por correspondencia implica una distinción entre la mente en el mundo que permita la conformidad entre idea y objeto. Al introducir la noción de paralelismo, surgen problemas para mantener la distinción mente-mundo propia de la teoría de verdad por correspondencia. Segundo, se estudia la definición de “idea adecuada” y se hace énfasis en sus caracterización de cualidad intrínseca, para relacionarla con la noción de verdad. Tercero, se estima la noción de falsedad de forma que sea conforme con las preguntas que surgen a partir del paralelismo y la adecuación de las ideas.
